strengths and challenges

My strengths of good writing are choosing a topic and word choice. I'm ok at developing paragraphs but not really. I use very sophisticated sounding words when I write an English paper to make it seem more interesting.   Challenges for me are pretty much everything. I'm not good at writing papers because it's just difficult for me. I can't understand the concepts we learn in class. Therefore, I can't use them to help me write a paper because I don't know them.

hits and misses

My hits for writing were my blogs. They are only 2 paragraphs which isn't too bad and its easy to just fill it in. Most of the time I like the topics we get to write about because luckily I usually have a story that will apply to it. Blogs are just plain easy to write and I like doing it.   My misses were every English paper we had to write in class. Im not good at writing and I don't know how to be good at it. I feel like my only good thing in writing a paper is word choice. I also usually have a good topic to write about, but thats not whats graded so it doesn't do so well anyways.

what places do you remember fondly from childhood?

A place I remember very well is the second house I ever lived in which was in New Orleans like my first house. It was our brand new house we just moved into. My sister was not even born yet when we moved in (this was when I was almost 2). I do not know how I remember this house so well because we had it for only about a year until Hurricane Katrina hit the hardest in our area. I even know my address from the old house and my parents don't know that I know that because I was so young. We lived on 324 Spencer Avenue in the Lakeview area. We lived on the corner, closest to the levy that broke in the hurricane, so we weren't going to be moving back to New Orleans.       While we were empty of having a house, we lived in at our camp in Natchez, Mississippi. I remember the power going out while the Hurricane was still going on because it had come to Natchez. We lived at our camp for a long time before buying the house I am living in right now. I remember one time me and my siste

PH response

So far I am actually really enjoying Purple Hibiscus for an assigned book. It's so real, nothing is filtered. It really creeps me out how religious this family is and how absolutely crazy their father is which draws me into the book even more because it is not normal. My two reading focus topics, gender and race, are applying to most of the book which gives me a lot to talk about.     For gender, it's the pretty basic: man of the house goes to work, woman stays home to take care of everyone. There isn't much interesting or abnormal things that go into gender, but race has a whole lot. People who are Nigerian get killed easily, are poor unless they are somebody like Eugene, and lack all resources. It's the pretty basic stuff that also has a wide variety of situations.
